Zuda Teachers > BillI am passionate about the path of yoga.

All of my life I have trained hard, running, lifting, cycling.  I discovered power yoga as a way to cross train but then the philosophy started to seep in.  Finally it landed and then—whoa!  Look out!  My heart started to open, my happiness grew and I was hooked for life.

My former self--angry, depressed, closed off--is gone and I now awaken each day happy and open to all of the miracles in life.  Yoga has taught me how to be gentle and kind towards myself, even when there are setbacks.

I teach to be fully immersed in the art of living.  I had a 15-year career as a medical doctor specializing in family practice.  While medicine provided a very good life financially, yoga affords me the opportunity to help people in a much more deep and profound way.  It gets to the source of it all!

Baron Baptiste and Johnny Kest are my primary vinyasa teachers, along with ongoing training with the Zuda Yoga team.  Lama Marut, through his philosophical teachings, changed how I perceive the world.  I know I am solely responsible for my life and have the possibility of doing great things.

Students come to my class to feel a true sense of being grounded, centered, and just fine exactly where they are in this process.  We are all students and all teachers and help others shine when we share ourselves.  As we grow we have a choice as to what our life looks like.  I offer folks the opportunity to flow with breath, intelligent sequencing, hard work, clear cues and pure chilaxation at the end.

I grew up in the Appalachian foothills of Ohio.  Billy is actually my middle name, Hill being my first.  My two grown daughters are still in Ohio and love visiting California.

I am an amateur astronomer, avid reader and sports fan.  My ideal weekend is spent backpacking in the wilderness with my friends and my dog.

I tend to take things very literally and often completely missing the boat.  Once I was told to “keep something close to my vest”, to which, I replied, “I don’t own a vest”.  I like every food on Earth and have a huge appetite.  And Pink Floyd, without a doubt, has the best dance tunes.  Of course, I have no sense of rhythm.

I teach at Zuda because it has a vibe that makes me feel good.  The community there has a life of its own.  We take care of each other, accept each other, help each other.  There is love and connection dripping from the place.  I feel hope when I am there.

May I care enough, to love enough to share enough to let others become what they can be.
